It belongs with anyone who turns their pots toward the light each morning, and it will please the friend whose car always smells of potting soil.

A closer look at Striped Sunset Cactus

The plant comes first. A green cactus of the saguaro kind rises through the middle of the picture, a tall trunk flanked by a pair of raised arms, outlined in dark ink with vertical ribs drawn down its length and small spines bristling along every edge. An orange-pink flower sits at the very top, and a tiny bud tips one of the arms.

Behind it hangs a round disc built from horizontal stripes with thin dark gaps between them. The stripes shift from orange at the top through amber and yellow to pale green and teal at the bottom, with a light speckle across them, the sunset you know from retro travel prints. Below, a low strip of dark brown earth with some blades of grass gives the cactus somewhere to stand.

One word sits above the scene and one below it, set in heavy orange block capitals with a dark drop shadow. Everything is drawn flat and graphic with a slightly weathered texture, like a souvenir decal from a desert highway stop.

Made for the daily round of coffee and watering

Sturdy ceramic, a mug to use every day instead of saving it for guests

The finish is glossy, so the sunset stripes sit on a smooth, shiny surface

Printed on both sides, so nobody at the table gets the blank half

Made from a lead-free and BPA-free material

Microwave safe for a quick cocoa on a cold potting day

Dishwasher safe, which leaves your hands free for the watering can

Who it's for

Cactus growers, succulent propagators, balcony gardeners and road-trippers who brake for every roadside saguaro. It is at home beside the grow lights, on a patio table or at a desk that could use something green. Consider it when someone moves to a new place, when the household's chief waterer has a birthday, as a retirement gift for the colleague who watered the office plants, or as a thank-you to a favorite teacher.

Quick answers

Why does the cactus have a flower on top?

Growers know a cactus bloom is a small event, because many kinds take years before they flower. The little blossom on the trunk is a nod to that patience, and to the day the waiting pays off.

What decor does it sit well with?

Warm, earthy rooms suit it: clay pots, woven baskets, rattan, pale wood and anything thrifted. The warm sunset tones echo the clay pots, so it looks settled on a plant shelf or an open kitchen rack.

Is it a safe pick for a coworker or a teacher?

Yes. A plant and a sunset are friendly subjects that sit comfortably in a staff room. You do not need to know their taste in detail, only that they like something green nearby.

Shipping and returns

Free US shipping.
