Handheld players and retro game fans get a pocket of that mood to keep, and it makes a low-key present for the friend who replays a hard level until it gives in.

The design: Sunset Console Retry, a handheld under the palms

At the center lies one retro handheld game console, drawn at an angle and tipped to the right. Its body is pale grey with lilac-purple trim and a ridged side edge. The wide screen shows teal green with a thin yellow band, a dark purple plus-shaped direction pad sits on the left, three small oval buttons line up in the middle and two round buttons, one pink and one purple, wait on the right. A black shadow on the ground holds it in place.

Behind it hangs a pink sunset circle with a soft yellow sun in the middle and white horizontal stripes across its lower half. A green palm tree stands on each side, leaning slightly inward, with a dark trunk, small pink coconuts and tufts of grass at its foot.

Two lines of blocky capitals, outlined in black and set on a black drop shadow, run under the scene. The upper line shades from yellow at the top of each letter to teal green at the bottom; the lower line is pink. Together they form an end-screen message that invites another go, the kind every player has stared at with a thumb already on the button.

Palm tree sticker details: shaped edge, solid film, easy application

The kiss cut traces the palm tops, the sunset circle and the two lines of lettering, leaving a slim white margin on every side

Opaque vinyl: a faded decal or a painted mark under it stays fully covered

Smooths down quickly and easily, with a bubble-free finish

Durable vinyl, fine with being handled every day

Clean the spot first; that is the only prep it asks for

Who it's for

Handheld players, retro game fans, the sibling who restarts a tough level twenty times before dinner, and anyone who wants a little beach-poster color near the keyboard. Our photos show it on a silver laptop; a game case, a planner or a pencil box are other ideas. Give it with a summer birthday card, in a road-trip snack bag or as a thank-you to whoever lent you their charger.

Quick answers

What size is the peel-off sticker on each sheet?

It follows the outline of the scene, slightly taller than wide, inside the sheet you choose: its longest side reaches about 3″ on the smallest sheet, about 4″ on the next and about 5½″ on the third. Choose 15″×3.75″ for one sticker up to about 3¾″ (9.5 cm) tall.

Is the whole picture pixel art?

Only the two lines of lettering use a blocky pixel-style font. The console, the palms and the sun are smooth, flat line art, closer to an old travel print than to an 8-bit screen.

Are the sunset colors loud or soft?

Soft. The scene is printed in flat pastels with black outlines and one black shadow, so it reads as a calm retro illustration.

Shipping and returns

Free US shipping.
