It's an original vintage-style illustration, framed in black and ready to hang, and the kind of gift that lands with anyone who has ferried across the lake or tied up at that quay.

The design: Sailboat Below the Castle

The view is low, from a boat's height out on the lake. The crenellated keep of the castle rises at the top right, its swallowtail merlons capped in rust red, above lower battlemented walls, dark cypresses and a pale rocky promontory, while salmon, ochre and cream houses with green shutters and flower boxes step down to a small quay with white umbrellas and wooden mooring posts. A lone sailboat sits lower-left on rippling blue water streaked with orange reflections, and layered mountains fade back into a golden sky of soft cumulus.

MALCESINE runs across the top left in deep red, with LAGO DI GARDA set beneath it in navy between two short orange rules and VENETO • ITALIA below that. The scene is painterly and softly shaded, with textured stone, warm light on the walls and rippled reflections under clean, bold lettering, all in golden orange, terracotta, cream, navy and deep lake blue.

If you have sailed, swum or simply sat by this shore, you know these colors, with the stone gone gold and the lake still.

Square, framed and ready to hang

Sizes: 14″×14″ (35.6 × 35.6 cm) or 16″×16″ (40.6 × 40.6 cm), both square print sizes

Paper: luster photo paper, 260 g/m² and 10 mil (0.25 mm) thick, with a partly glossy, partly matte finish

Frame and front: black ayous wood with an acrylite protector in place of glass — lighter, and it doesn't shatter

Hanging hardware included, so it goes straight onto a wall hook

Printed to order: this sailboat framed art is made just for you once you place your order

Who it's for

For Lake Garda returners who stayed in Malcesine, sailors and windsurfers who know the town as a base, and Italophiles building a wall of Italian lake towns.
