Description

A canvas tent, flap open, pitched between dark pines.

This adventure backpack repeats one small camp drawing across its fabric: a ridge tent, a half sun, a log and a single boot. It is a medium bag for daily use, so the drawing goes to class, to the office and out of town on Friday.

Tent, pines, half sun, one boot

The tent comes first. It is a canvas ridge tent in pale grey-white, pegged on grass. Tall pines stand at both sides, and a row of smaller ones runs behind it.

Past the tree line is an orange half sun with rays, thin and pale, fanning outward. A low orange-brown hill lies in front of it. On the right, a fallen log rests on the ground with a tan lace-up boot next to it. Tufts of grass finish the bottom edge.

The lettering is slab capitals with a worn, speckled look. The top word is charcoal black and sits on a gentle arc. The other words are rust red. Read top to bottom, they say “Camp Like You Mean It”.

Each drawing has its own pale grey-cream square with rounded corners and a faint paper-like speckle. The squares line up in a straight grid, about three across the front panel, with thin white lines between them. They cover the front panel, the front zip pocket, both side panels and the top. Straps, top handle and zipper pulls are black.

Pockets, straps and numbers

  • Fabric: 100% polyester, 9 oz/yd² (305 g/m²). It is water-resistant, which helps keep your things dry in light weather
  • Laptop: a separate compartment inside the large main pocket fits a 15″ one
  • Small things: a zip pocket on the front, plus a hidden zip pocket on the back of the bag for keys or a wallet
  • Top zipper: two sliders, so it opens from either end
  • Carrying: padded, ergonomic straps that adjust in length, a soft mesh back and a silky lining inside
  • Size: 16⅛″ × 12¼″ × 3⅞″ (41 × 31 × 10 cm). Load limit: 44 lb (20 kg)

Who it's for

Tent campers. Scout leaders. Students who spend the week waiting for the weekend, and commuters who keep a sleeping bag in the trunk. Give it for a birthday, Father's Day or the holidays.

Quick answers

Can I carry it to work or class every day?

Yes. That is what it is made for: daily use or sports activities. It is not trekking equipment, so pack it for the day and leave the heavy camp kit to a bigger pack.

What about a rainy walk?

Fine for a short one. For a long soak, put your laptop and papers in a plastic sleeve first, because the fabric resists water without sealing it out.

How do I get a mark off it?

A gentle tip: wipe the spot with a soft damp cloth, then let the bag dry fully before you pack it again.

For the camper who puts the shelter up first and checks the forecast second.

Why it gets packed first

  • A campsite in miniature — an A-frame shelter under evergreens and a rayed sun, stamped again and again like old camp badges.
  • Built around a workday — your computer rides in its own section, and a tucked-away rear pouch keeps small things close to your back.
  • A send-off present — slip a trail map or a packet of cocoa behind the front zipper before you hand it over.
