Two flamingos stand in shallow water at the center of the picture, turned toward each other. Their necks bend in mirror image, so close that the heads almost touch. Both birds are colored in coral pink and orange, with dark-tipped beaks and thin dark legs that leave small ripples where they enter the water.

Exactly between them, a large pale-yellow sun rests on the horizon and lays a strip of light across the calm teal-green water. Above it the sky climbs from gold and deep orange, streaked with cloud, to dark teal at the top. Blue-gray hills run along the far shore, with small tree-covered islets at either side, and a tall coconut palm rises at each edge of the scene, both trunks leaning inward until the fronds frame the sun.

Along the bottom, hibiscus blooms in red-orange, coral and golden orange sit among dark green tropical leaves, some of them broad and split.
