Description

Logged in, seated, nodding along. The rest of you left a while ago.

This AFK mug does the admitting for you, with a chat bubble that has nothing in it and a footnote in brackets underneath. Park it by the keyboard for long queues and longer meetings, or pass it to the squadmate who goes quiet halfway through every match.

The design: a blank bubble and some fine print

At the top of the print sits a rounded-rectangle chat bubble in glossy green. The fill is lighter near the top, where a pale streak of shine crosses it, and deepens toward the bottom, a little like a glass button. A thick, very dark green outline runs around it, and a small pointed tail at the lower right aims down at the lettering. Inside the bubble there is no text and no typing dots.

Below it, AFK stands in bold black rounded capitals. Under those letters, much smaller and in loose handwritten lower-case, comes the qualifier in parentheses: (mentally, at least.), closed with a period before the bracket.

The whole thing is drawn like a flat chat icon, in green and black only, and it sits straight on the white glaze with no panel or box behind it. Nothing else competes for attention, which suits a joke about not paying any.

An AFK mug that needs no babysitting

  • Glossy white ceramic, so the bubble and the black letters show up cleanly from across the room
  • One print on each side of the mug: you can read it from your chair, and so can whoever sits across the table
  • Microwave safe, so a drink left alone through a long queue can be warmed up again
  • Dishwasher safe, so washing up takes one trip to the rack

Who it's for

Players waiting in matchmaking, raid members stuck until the last person is ready, remote workers on call number four and students in a lecture that passed the one-hour mark. It fits a gaming desk, a home office or the shared kitchen shelf where everybody knows whose cup is whose. Good reasons to give one: a gamer's birthday, a team gift swap, a first week at a meeting-heavy job or the last day of exams.

Quick answers

What does AFK stand for?

Away from keyboard. Players and chat users type it when they step away for a minute. The line in brackets twists it into a confession: you never left the seat, your focus did.

Why is the bubble left empty?

It is part of the joke. A message bubble with no words is what a conversation looks like when one side has zoned out, so the art keeps it blank and lets the letters underneath explain.

Does it reference a certain game or app?

No. You will not find a game title, logo, character or app name anywhere on the mug. It is a plain bubble with lettering, so it works for any platform, any genre and any group chat.

Do the cream and the straw come with it?

No, those are photo props. The pictures show the mug topped with whipped cream, sprinkles and a paper straw; your order is the mug by itself.

How do I choose a size?

Start from what you drink: the option names tell you how many ounces each one holds. For a tight shelf or a low coffee machine spout, compare the height and diameter of every option in the size guide.

For anyone whose status reads online while their attention quietly slipped out of the room.

Why it earns the spot by your keyboard

  • Honest status — a wordless message icon above three capitals and a small disclaimer, for days when your head is three tabs away.
  • Zero upkeep — reheat a forgotten drink, then let the machine do the washing; the artwork shows on the left face and the right.
  • For the slow replier — a fit for the friend whose texts land an hour late and whose excuse never changes.
