Description

A full heart for the spot where your mug comes down.

This cork back coaster carries a single pixel heart, the kind that stands for a life in a retro game, printed large on a white square. Each order brings one coaster, a small desk accessory for anyone who still thinks of health in hearts.

The design: Solo Pixel Heart

The heart is built from big square pixels, so its curves turn into small steps. A black outline follows those steps all the way around, and the inside is filled with flat red. Down the right side and along the lower right edge runs a band of darker red, the simple kind of shading that makes a flat shape look rounded.

Two small white squares sit at the upper left like a glint of light. The heart stands upright in the middle of the coaster with plain white all around it, and there are no words, numbers or other symbols.

Anyone who has played a retro game reads it at once as a life icon: the thing you guard, lose and win back. On the coaster it is printed beneath a glossy layer, a quiet signal to whoever shares your desk or your couch that a player lives here.

Gloss above, cork below

  • A 0.04″ (1 mm) layer of cork covers the underside and is non-slip, so a nudge from your elbow does not send it sliding
  • The picture is printed on 0.12″ (3 mm) of hardboard and sealed under a high-gloss coating
  • Water-repellent on top: drips from an iced drink stay on the coaster, and the table underneath is spared the stains
  • Heat-resistant as well, so hot chocolate or tea can rest there too
  • Rounded corners on a 3.74″ × 3.74″ (9.5 × 9.5 cm) square that measures 0.16″ (4 mm) from its top face to the cork
  • A quick wipe of the glossy top with a soft cloth and a little water is all the care it asks for

Who it's for

Retro game fans, pixel artists, couch co-op partners and the person who keeps a glass by the keyboard through every late session. It can live beside a monitor, on a bedside table or on the coffee table on game night. Because the motif is a heart, it also works as a Valentine's Day or anniversary token for the player in your life, or as a small birthday surprise.

Quick answers

Is the heart taken from a particular game?

No. It is a generic pixel heart in the style of the life icons many retro games use, with no game, character or logo attached.

Does it only belong on a gaming desk?

Not at all. A plain heart reads as a love token as much as a game icon, so it sits just as easily on a kitchen counter, a work desk or a shelf by the reading chair.

Why is there so much blank space around the heart?

The heart spans about two-thirds of the coaster's width and sits in the middle, so plain white runs around it and the icon stands by itself.

A single red pixel heart for retro players, set down wherever a drink gets poured.

Why players keep it close

  • A health icon you can touch — a chunky, blocky heart with two white pixels, the symbol every player learns to protect.
  • Stands guard over wood — moisture and warmth stop at the sealed surface, and the grippy base keeps it from wandering.
  • A player-two present — slip it into a card for the co-op partner who shares your sofa, snacks and save files.
