A firebird built from pixels, for the desk where a bad day gets a second try.
This phoenix coaster shows a pixel-art bird with both wings raised among blocky clouds on a black face, made for anyone who likes retro game art with some backbone. It is sold singly: one order, one coaster.
How Pixel Cloud Phoenix is drawn
The phoenix faces you head-on, wings spread toward the upper corners. Its head turns to one side in profile, yellow-orange, and flame-like crest plumes in orange and pink stream back from it. Each wing is a row of long feathers with stepped edges: cyan and blue on the outside, then pink, orange and yellow closer to the body, with a pink outline around the whole shape.
Across the bird's body run two words in bold, slanted white pixel capitals with thin pink and cyan edges, the second word wider than the first. Below them a fan of tail feathers in cyan, blue and purple points downward. Blocky clouds in bright magenta with slate-blue shading fill the lower corners, and smaller ones sit higher up at the sides.
Loose single pixels in orange and cyan scatter around the head, and two thin dotted orange lines meet in a point above it. All of it rests on black, in the hard-edged style of 8-bit and 16-bit games. A phoenix has long been the picture for starting over; here it speaks the visual language of a game you played as a kid, a small nod to anyone on the way back from a rough patch.
What it does once the cup lands
- The top is water-repellent, a good match for a cold glass or a mug.
- Hot drinks are fine too, because the surface is heat-resistant.
- The back is 0.04″ (1 mm) of non-slip cork, which grips the desk.
- The glossy top sits on 0.12″ (3 mm) of hardboard.
- It takes up little room: 3.74″ × 3.74″ (9.5 × 9.5 cm) and 0.16″ (4 mm) thick, with rounded corners.
- Marks come off easily with a soft cloth.
Who it's for
Pixel-art fans, retro game players, and anyone who wants a small reminder within reach that a rough week is not the end of the story. Where it ends up is your call: by the monitor, at the bedside or next to the reading chair. It makes a thoughtful extra for a friend starting a new job, someone back on their feet after a setback, a new graduate or a player with a birthday coming up.
Quick answers
How much of the bird does a cup cover?
A cup covers the middle, where the lettering is. The wing tips and the corner clouds reach the edges of the coaster, and the full picture shows each time you lift your drink.
Which way up does it go?
The art has a clear top and bottom: head and wing tips up, tail feathers down. Turn it so the two words read level from your chair.
How does it look on a light desk compared with a dark one?
The background is fully dark out to the edge. On light wood it shows as a dark square with a bright bird inside; on a dark desk mat the square blends in and the phoenix stands out by itself.
What is the phoenix meant to say?
Start over. The raised wings are about getting back up after a setback, so it fits a turning point in someone's life as well as a game room.
