Someone designed the box that raised you.
This blueprint wall art draws a retro home game console with its top cut away, for the gamer who sees the design under the play. As an original RaZits illustration, it makes a smart gift for designers, engineers and anyone who reads a machine like a book.
The design: one console, cut open in blue ink
A single isometric drawing, seen from above at a three-quarter angle, shows a retro home console with its top cut away. Inside are circuit boards, chips, wiring and a round, disc-like part. The long, flat case keeps its outside details: ports and slots along the front edge, two blue rectangular buttons and a long blue bar on the top left, a small label panel and a rounded rear section. Above it floats a see-through button pad with six large blue buttons, five round and one squarish, wired into the console's insides by a bundle of cables, while a curved, C-shaped part arcs behind the circuitry.
Around it runs everything a working drafting sheet collects: dimension lines, leader lines and upright construction lines, blocks of tiny notes at the top right and down the left edge, a boxed title block at the lower left, and red-ink markups, from two circled detail sketches to small boxed sketches along the right edge and a signature-like scribble. The lettering is pseudo-writing throughout, so it reads as a drawing to enjoy rather than a manual to follow. The palette is cobalt-blue ink and wash on aged cream paper, with red accents.
Drafted with the patience of an actual industrial designer, rendered as wall art. The hobby was built by people who cared about edges, weights, button feel, and this sheet tells their side of the story: the hand-drawn look of an old engineering drawing, applied to the machine that sat under the TV.

Who it's for
Designers, engineers, retro gamers with a design eye. It belongs in a designer's studio, an engineer's office or a retro game room, and it makes a fitting designer or engineer gift, a graduation or birthday present, or the finishing touch to a game-room setup.
Quick answers
Is it traced from a real console?
No. It's an original drawing of a generic retro home console, not a trace of any one model, and the notes and title block are pseudo-lettering. You get the feel of an engineering sheet without anyone's logo on your wall.
Which sizes show the complete drawing?
Only the squares show the whole sheet, including the title block and a round blue stamp at the lower right. Portrait formats crop both sides, and on A1 and 24″×36″ (61.0 × 91.4 cm) the console's left front corner and side notes run off the page.
How big should it be over a desk or drafting table?
Over a desk, 12″×16″ (30.5 × 40.6 cm) or 16″×20″ (40.6 × 50.8 cm) lets you follow the wiring from your chair. To read the drawing from across a studio, go for 18″×24″ (45.7 × 61.0 cm) or larger.
How should I frame a drafting-sheet print?
A thin black or natural-wood frame suits the old drawing-office look, and a white mat gives the margin notes room to breathe. The 8″×10″ (20.3 × 25.4 cm), 11″×14″ (27.9 × 35.6 cm) and 16″×20″ (40.6 × 50.8 cm) prints match widely sold ready-made frames.
