A white horse reared up tall, with a whole painted sky turning around it.
Riders, grown-up barn kids and anyone who simply likes horses get a bold square of color with this framed horse wall art. The frame is already on it, so the only job left is choosing the wall.
The design: Painted Cloud Horse
A white horse rears at the center of the square, seen from the side and facing right. Both forelegs are lifted and bent, the hind legs stand in a bank of cloud, and the head is held high with the ears pricked. A very long mane streams out behind it in thick, wavy locks threaded with strands of magenta, orange and navy, and the tail winds into one big spiral at the lower left.
Round swirls of magenta, orange, yellow and teal curl across the shoulder, side and haunch, which gives the animal a carved, painted look, while the legs stay white with gray shading and dark hooves. Behind the head sits a large disc, navy on one side with small white curls and warming to orange-yellow on the other.
Cream and white clouds billow along the bottom and up the right side. Everywhere else, ribbons of magenta, orange, gold, teal and navy wind through the square, and pale rays fan out from behind the horse. It is a picture without words, colored from edge to edge in a bold, layered style close to cut paper or stained glass, and its mood is all upward motion: the split second when a horse goes up and everything around it seems to rise too.
A framed print that saves you the framing step
- Square print sizes to choose from: 12″×12″ (30.5 × 30.5 cm), 14″×14″ (35.6 × 35.6 cm) or 16″×16″ (40.6 × 40.6 cm)
- Thick matte paper (189 g/m², 10.3 mil or 0.26 mm) carries the saturated magenta, orange and teal
- Matte black frame made of ayous wood from renewable forests, a plain dark border for a very lively picture
- A clear acrylic front covers the paper, so the print stays protected behind it
- Lightweight, so it is easy to hold in place while you mark the wall
- Hanging hardware is included with the frame
Who it's for
Horse lovers first: riders, people who grew up around a barn, and the ones who never had a pony but still draw them. Strong color is the point, so it holds its own over a headboard, beside a desk or at the end of a hallway. It also works as a present when a horse lover moves into a first place, finishes school or turns another year older.
Quick answers
Do the sizes describe the print or the whole frame?
Each size is the measurement of the print. The frame goes around the print, so the outside of the frame is a little larger. Allow for that when the piece has to sit between two windows or shelves.
How large should I go?
12″×12″ (30.5 × 30.5 cm) fits a narrow strip of wall beside a mirror or over a nightstand. 14″×14″ (35.6 × 35.6 cm) is the middle choice for a desk wall. 16″×16″ (40.6 × 40.6 cm) reads from across the room, above a bench or dresser.
What kind of horse is it?
A white horse drawn in a decorative style: long wavy mane, spiral tail and curls of color on its coat. It reads as a horse in general, which lets it stand in for whichever one you love.
Will it work in a room that already has a lot of color?
Usually, yes. The picture holds warm and cool colors together, so it tends to pick up an accent already in the room. The dark frame gives it a firm outline on a pale wall, on brick or on wood paneling.
