The rocks were here first.
This geology pillow picks a side in a long-running science rivalry and prints the verdict down the middle of the cover. It suits geologists, earth-science teachers and weekend rockhounds, and it is an easy gift for the person who stops on every walk to pick up a stone.
The design: a verdict in four typefaces
The cover is plain white, and the joke is stacked down its center: "Archaeology is cool and all... BUT GEOLOGY ROCKS". Each line gets lettering of its own. The opening word is slanted black brush script with a capital A. The second line is small, thin, lowercase serif type that trails off into three dots, like a polite pause before the punchline.
Then the tone changes. Line three lands in bold, condensed black capitals, and the closing word is the biggest thing on the pillow: slanted brush-stroke capitals in dark brown, with a lighter brown shadow set just behind them and ragged ends where the brush lifts off.
Between those last two lines sits a small flat-color scene. A shallow pit of brown earth with darker stepped sides lies in the middle, a few mud patches in front of it. A rounded brown boulder stands at each side with a gray pointed rock behind it, bright green grass tufts grow beside the boulders, and small leafy plants fill in around them. No tools, no bones, no people: just the ground itself, with wide white margins around the whole block.
Filled, zipped and washable
- Cover and insert are both 100% polyester
- The cover fabric weighs 6.49–7.37 oz/yd² (220–250 g/m²)
- The insert comes with the pillow and keeps its shape, so there is nothing extra to buy
- The zipper is tucked into a seam, which keeps the closure out of sight
- When it needs cleaning, the cover unzips and goes in the washing machine; wash the insert by hand only
Who it's for
Geology majors, earth-science teachers, rock and mineral hobbyists and anyone who has lost this debate to an archaeologist over dinner. Set it on an office chair, a dorm bed, a classroom reading corner or the family sofa. It works for a graduation, an end-of-year thank-you for a teacher, a retirement send-off or a birthday.
Quick answers
Will the lettering be cut off if I pick the rectangle?
Nothing is cut. The rectangle carries the same four lines and the same little scene at a reduced scale, set in the center with empty cover toward each end.
Is the joke hard on archaeologists?
It teases; it does not insult. The first two lines give archaeology its due before the capitals hand the trophy to the rocks, so it is a fair present for a friend on either side of the debate.
Are there fossils or crystals in the picture?
No. The scene shows bare earth, boulders, pointed rocks, grass and a few plants. With no gems or specimens drawn, it reads as general earth science instead of one specialty.
How close will my pillow be to the listed measurements?
The figures are taken with the product lying flat, and a finished one can differ by up to 1″ (2.5 cm). Allow for that margin if it has to sit in a narrow daybed or chair.
Can it live on a porch swing?
This is an indoor pillow. Give it a spot on a couch, bed or desk chair, and leave weather-exposed seating to cushions made for it.
