Easily distracted by books, and not one bit sorry about it.

This book lover coffee mug says what your unanswered texts already suspect: a good story wins every time. Keep it next to the current read for coffee or tea, or wrap it for the friend whose to-be-read pile keeps growing faster than they can finish it.

The design: Easily Distracted by Books in retro serif capitals

The print is lettering and nothing else. EASILY takes the top line and BOOKS the bottom, both in tall serif capitals with thick and thin strokes, while DISTRACTED runs between them a touch smaller. Just above BOOKS, a small handwritten "by" rests between two thin rules, like a short breath before the punchline.

Each letter takes its own shade from a muted retro palette of caramel tan, sage teal, dusty mauve and cream, so the words look a little like a row of spines on a well-used shelf. The dot over each I is picked out in a different shade from the letter under it, and a lightly worn texture keeps the type from looking too polished.

It reads as a cheerful admission, not an apology. Anyone who has missed a bus stop, let dinner go cold or stayed up past midnight for one more chapter will recognize themselves in it, and so will the people who live with them.

Ceramic that forgives a forgotten cup

• Count on a sturdy ceramic build; the glossy black finish sets off the soft pastel letters
• Spot the phrase in one place only: the face across from the handle
• Rewarm a neglected tea in the microwave when chapter twelve runs long
• Load it into the dishwasher at the end of the day and get back to your book
• Sip without a second thought: you will find no lead and no BPA in the material

Who it's for

Fiction bingers, Saturday-morning library visitors, reading-group hosts, English teachers and anyone who packs a paperback just in case. It suits a bedside table, a desk at work or the side table by a favorite chair. Give it at a book club gift exchange, as an end-of-year thank-you for a teacher, for a graduation or for a retirement that finally frees up reading time.

Quick answers

How much of the lettering shows with the handle to the side?

Only a sliver. In the photos with the handle on the left, the first letters of each line show at the right edge; with the handle on the right, the last letters show at the left edge. The front photos, handle hidden behind, show the whole phrase.

What are the book stacks in the first photo?

A styled backdrop for the picture. They do not come with the mug and are not printed on it: the mug carries the lettering alone, with no drawing of any kind.

Does it suit someone who reads on a tablet or listens to audiobooks?

Yes. The phrase is about stories, not paper. It fits anyone who vanishes into a novel, whatever the format, and it gets the same knowing nod from a commuter with earbuds as from a hardback collector.
