Description

The concert is over, and the notes are still finding their way down the stairs.

Black notes of every size spill across a grand curved staircase in Enduring Elegant Echoes, a music notes poster drawn in the flat coral, mustard and teal of a vintage screen print. Concert-goers, music students and the teachers who keep them practicing will know the mood, and it is a thoughtful thing to hand over once the recital is done.

The design: a staircase full of notes

The upper part of the print looks into a grand hall. A wide staircase with a balustrade sweeps from the upper right down across the front of the picture, its steps in mustard yellow with coral bands and thin teal lines. Behind it, at the back left, columns and tall wall panels stand in teal and coral.

About twenty solid black notes float over the steps: single eighth notes, quarter notes and one small beamed pair. The largest sit at the left and they shrink toward the upper right, so your eye travels the curve of the stairs with them. Whether they are tumbling down or drifting up is yours to decide.

A black band fills the lower part of the sheet and holds the name of the piece. The first two words run in peach capitals with a fine darker outline; the third stands much larger beneath them, each letter filled with a sage-green, tile-like floral pattern and edged in coral. A thin tan border runs around the whole design, and everything is laid down in flat areas of color with a slight grain, the way old travel posters were printed.

A square matte sheet with the border already printed

  • Sold in squares only: 10″×10″ (25.4 × 25.4 cm), 12″×12″ (30.5 × 30.5 cm), 14″×14″ (35.6 × 35.6 cm), 16″×16″ (40.6 × 40.6 cm) and 18″×18″ (45.7 × 45.7 cm); the tan border sits at all four edges on each one
  • Enhanced matte paper, 189 g/m² in weight and 10.3 mil in thickness; a matte surface suits flat, poster-style color
  • Rated at 94% opacity, so the wall or backing board behind the sheet has little say in how the lighter areas look
  • The paper measures 104% on the ISO brightness scale, a bright starting point for the peach lettering and the staircase
  • Made with paper sourced from Japan
  • Frame not included; what you unpack is the paper print on its own

Who it's for

Concert-goers who stay in their seats until the hall empties, music students, piano and voice teachers, choir and orchestra members, and anyone who hums on the way out. Hang it in a practice room, a teaching studio, a hallway or on the wall beside your own stairs. It also marks occasions such as a recital day, a music-school graduation, a teacher’s retirement or the opening of a new studio.

Quick answers

What do the notes stand for?

Music in general. They float free of any staff lines, so no particular piece is playing; whichever tune is in your head when you look at them is the one they carry.

Where is the staircase?

In an imagined grand hall, drawn to feel like the foyer of a concert hall once the audience has gone home. It could be any city's hall, which leaves the picture open to your own memories of one.

Which square for a practice room, and which for a hallway?

Beside a music stand or on a bookshelf, 10″×10″ (25.4 × 25.4 cm) or 12″×12″ (30.5 × 30.5 cm) is enough. On an open hallway or stairwell wall, 16″×16″ (40.6 × 40.6 cm) or 18″×18″ (45.7 × 45.7 cm) gives the smallest notes more presence.

What kind of frame fits it?

A square frame in the same size as the sheet you choose, for example 12″×12″ (30.5 × 30.5 cm) for the 12″×12″ print.

Will it work outside a music room?

Yes. At first glance it is a vintage-style picture of a grand interior, and the notes register a moment later. That makes it an easy fit for an entry or a living room as well.

For the listener who is still humming in the lobby long after the applause has faded.

What it brings to the wall

  • A hall after the encore — stray notes large and small wander over a broad stairway beneath ornamental capitals.
  • Screen-print looks on matte stock — a 189 g/m² sheet from Japan holds the flat color areas cleanly.
  • Instead of flowers — present it to the accompanist or choir director who carried everyone through the closing concert.
