A heron lifts one foot out of the marsh grass, and the next step is left to you.
This Everglades National Park poster centers on a blue-gray heron wading through tall green marsh grass, drawn in the flat colors of a vintage-style travel poster. It gives birdwatchers, paddlers and Florida-minded households a wetland scene to look at every day.
What is drawn in Heron in the Marsh Grass
Start at the bottom. Marsh grass in three shades of green fills the lower third of the scene, and its blades cross the legs of the bird standing in it. The heron is placed left of center and faces right: a blue-gray body and folded wing, a white neck and head with a dark stripe on the crown, a long yellow-orange bill and long orange-brown legs, one of them raised mid-step.
Behind the bird, a strip of pale blue water runs between low green banks, and a dark green tree line closes the horizon at both sides. A half disc of deep orange sun rests on that horizon at the right, and its reflection is laid on the water in cream and gold. Higher up, the sky turns peach-orange with thin cream streaks, then pale blue with flat cream cloud bands, and three small dark birds fly at the upper left.
The widest cloud band carries the park name in two lines of dark green capitals. Just under the scene, a small spaced line reads "FLORIDA · EST. 1947". All of it is printed on a cream ground. Nothing is outlined: color meets color along hard edges, with a fine grain over the top, in the flat-color look of a vintage-style travel poster.

Who it's for
Birdwatchers with a life list, kayakers and canoeists, Florida natives and snowbirds, and anyone who slows the car for a wading bird at the water's edge. It looks at home in an entryway, a sunroom, a reading nook or a lake cottage. Occasions that fit: a housewarming, a birthday, Mother's Day or a retirement spent closer to the water.
Quick answers
Is this a portrait or a landscape poster?
Portrait. Each sheet is taller than it is wide, a shape that suits narrow wall space such as the strip beside a door or between two windows.
Is a frame part of the order?
It is not. You are buying the paper poster only, which is also how every photo on this page shows it.
Is the print glossy?
No. The finish is matte.
Would it suit a birdwatcher who has never visited Florida?
Yes. The bird is the main subject, so anyone fond of wading birds has a reason to hang it. The lettering simply says where the scene is set.
