Wings up, flames below, and three lime-green words that say the run isn't over.

Drop the match, hold your nerve: this cool gaming mouse pad puts a pixel-art phoenix in the middle of your desk, caught mid-rise, with EXTRA LIFE MODE spelled out beside it. It's a fitting pick for players who treat every defeat as a reason to queue again, and an easy present for one of them.

The design: a phoenix with one more try in it

Seen from the front, the bird throws both wings high and wide while its head turns to the right in profile, a small crest on top and an orange-yellow beak open mid-call. Its head and body are bright blue shading to cyan. The wing feathers are long, stepped bands that run from blue through purple to magenta at the tips.

Behind it, jagged flames burst outward in red, coral, orange and yellow. A yellow-orange glow rings the head, and red tongues climb above the wings and curl under the body. At the lower left, overlapping the foot of the fire, EXTRA and LIFE MODE stack on two lines in chunky block capitals that fade from lime yellow to green, every letter backed by a magenta drop shadow.

Every shape is built from hard-edged 8-bit style blocks, so the scene reads like a sprite from an old cartridge blown up to desk size. In gaming, an extra life is the bonus try that lets you carry on after a fall, and a bird that climbs out of its own fire makes the same point without a word.

Under the art: the pad itself

• The top layer is 100% polyester, printed black across the whole pad with the phoenix in the center
• Underneath is a non-slip rubber base, so the pad stays put on the desk
• The edges are stitched all the way around, and that stitching doesn't peel
• All four corners are rounded rather than square
• It measures 0.16″ (0.4 cm) thick, a thin layer between your desk and your mouse
• The print is vibrant and long lasting, which matters for art built from this many colors

Who it's for

Retro pixel-art fans, players who grind through hard levels on stubbornness alone, and gamer dads who remember when continues were rationed. Wrap it for a retro gamer's birthday, drop it into a Secret Santa draw, or hand it over after a rough ranked season as a nudge to go again.

Quick answers

How much of the larger pad does the artwork cover?

The middle only. The 36″×18″ (91.4 × 45.7 cm) pad carries one phoenix at its center, leaving wide plain background to the left and right for a keyboard. On the 18″×16″ (45.7 × 40.6 cm) pad the bird fills most of the surface, framed by a margin.

What does EXTRA LIFE MODE mean here?

It's player shorthand. An extra life is the spare attempt a game hands you so you can keep going, and on this pad the phrase reads as a mood: get up, shake it off, try the level again.

Can I use it at a work desk?

Yes. No game title, logo or character appears anywhere on it, only the bird, the fire and the three words, so it looks at home under an office mouse too.

Something spilled on it. Now what?

Spot clean the mark gently. The pad is not machine washable, so it stays out of the washer.
