Orange roof tiles crowd the foreground, near enough to touch, and a cream bell tower stands up out of them with the lake at its back.
Rooftop Bell Tower is Lake Garda art with a perch all its own: you look down over the houses of Limone sul Garda as though from a balcony above them. A stairwell, a sunny kitchen or the spot where your trips to Italy hang would each do it justice.
Rooftop Bell Tower, tile by tile out to the ridge
Right under you lies a single roof of orange tiles, filling the lower right corner. Past it the roofs crowd together at every angle, with cream and white walls between them, blue shutters at the windows, a handful of chimneys and the odd small tree squeezed into a gap.
A little farther on, a cream bell tower, tall and slim, rises clear of the houses. Arches open near its top, a small dome caps it and a thin finial finishes it off, while three or four narrow dark cypress trees keep it company.
Then comes the lake, deep blue and crossed by thin white ripple lines, ending in a straight horizon. Off to the right a blue mountain ridge slopes to the waterline, and the sky over it is a flat, muted blue.
Overhead, two large yellow lemons hang side by side from a branch of dark green and olive leaves. The words come in three sizes: “LIMONE”, tallest and cream with a soft blue shadow; “SUL GARDA”, bold and dark blue, set between two short yellow rules; and “LAGO DI GARDA · ITALIA”, the smallest. Flat color shapes with slightly rough outlines give the whole scene the look of a retro travel poster.

Quick answers
What makes this view of Limone recognizable?
The words on it give the town and its lake, and the drawing supplies the rest: tiled roofs seen from above, a domed bell tower, narrow cypresses, open water and a pair of lemons overhead.
Where does the eye go first?
To the bell tower, the one tall shape among many low ones.
What small detail is easy to miss?
One chimney among the roofs wears a blue cap, easy to overlook at first glance.
Is every size the same shape?
Yes. All three are squares, exactly as tall as they are wide.
