Gold rock, a blue valley and a thread of white water down the cliff.
A granite dome in two tones of gold rises over blue ridges on this Yosemite poster, with the park name set beneath it in heavy dark green capitals. It is made for climbers, hikers and road-trippers with California on their minds, and it makes a simple gift for any of them.
Gold Granite and Falls up close
The picture is a rectangular panel on cream paper, with a cream border on every side. Its sky is cream as well, crossed by two pale teal cloud bands: a long one along the top of the panel and a shorter one below it at the left.
Right of center stands the granite dome, a tall rounded rock with a sheer face on its left side, colored in a lighter and a deeper gold with darker vertical streaks. A gold sun disc sits half-hidden behind its left shoulder. Behind and below the dome, layered blue ridges form a valley, paler in the distance and darker up close. The lower right flank of the dome and the cliff beside it fall into blue shade, with tiny pine tips along the ridge lines.
At the left, a blue cliff carries a narrow white waterfall that ends in a white splash. Dark green pine trees with visible trunks stand in the lower left corner, and rounded dark green treetops rise along the lower right. Directly under the straight bottom edge of the panel come two centered lines of forest-green capitals: "YOSEMITE", very large and heavy, and "NATIONAL PARK", small, bold and widely spaced. Every shape is a flat block of color with a hard edge, which gives the sheet a retro, mid-century travel-graphic feel.

Who it's for
Climbers who know granite by feel, hikers and backpackers, California road-trippers, families who camped in the valley summer after summer and anyone drawn to bold travel graphics. It belongs in a den, a hallway, a living room or the corner where the packs and ropes are kept. Give it to mark a first big climb, a move to California, an anniversary spent in the valley or the close of a long season outdoors.
Quick answers
Is there a date or a signature line anywhere on the sheet?
No. The picture and the park name are all that is printed, so nothing dates it or ties it to a year.
Will the person I give it to know the place at once?
Yes. The park name is the largest lettering on the sheet, so nobody has to guess which valley it is.
What could I add to make it a fuller gift?
Some ideas: a trail map of the valley, a guidebook, a set of poster clips or a handwritten note about the trip you took together.
What finish does the paper have?
Matte, across the picture, the lettering and the cream border alike.
