One arm up, hair high and a whole sun blazing behind the beat.

This dancer poster, Sunburst Dancer, shows a black silhouette with full afro hair caught mid-move in front of a red sun and crackling lightning. Thick matte paper keeps its bold colors crisp, and it is a cheerful gift pick for people who can't stay still once a song comes on.

The design: a dancer lit by a red sun

At the center, a slim figure in solid black dances with one arm raised and bent at the elbow and the other swinging low. A full, rounded afro crowns the silhouette, and a thin rim of teal and yellow light traces its edges, so the shape lifts right off the dark background.

Behind the dancer hangs a large red-orange sun with a grainy, hand-printed texture. Sharp spikes of yellow, orange, teal and red shoot outward from it, zig-zag lightning bolts fly off to both sides, and tiny four-point yellow stars and dots sparkle across the black sky. Lower down, red and teal paint specks add a rough, screen-printed grit.

Two words of big, distressed white lettering stack across the lower half, chunky slab letters worn like an old party flyer. The palette stays tight, just black, red-orange, yellow, teal and white, so from across a room the piece reads as pure movement: the moment the music takes over and you stop worrying about who is watching.

Who it's for

Quick answers

Who is the dancer meant to be?

The figure is a pure silhouette, so it stays open: a slim shape, a raised arm and a big crown of hair. You can see yourself, a friend or a favorite performer in it.

Are there words on the print?

Yes. Two words in large distressed white lettering sit below the dancer and fill much of the lower half, so it works as a slogan piece as well as a picture. There is no other text.

Do the square sizes cut off the dancer?

No. Each square is laid out afresh rather than cropped, so the whole figure, the sun and both words stay in view.

What size fills a studio or home-gym wall?

On a big studio or gym wall, 24″×36″ (61.0 × 91.4 cm) or A1 (23.3″×33.1″, 59.2 × 84.1 cm) reads from across the room. Over a bed, try 18″×24″ (45.7 × 61.0 cm); on a desk or shelf, 8″×10″ (20.3 × 25.4 cm).
