Before the first tile is drawn, someone has to say how this table plays.
This mahjong house rules mug is for the host who sorts out the scoring and the snacks before anyone sits down. The House Rules Mahj Desk artwork turns that job into a tidy retro badge in teal, cream and coral.
The artwork: the host's desk, in a badge
HOUSE RULES arches over the top in bold cream capitals, and MAHJ DESK curves along the bottom. In the center, a round teal and cream badge with a coral ring shows a small cream desk with three large blank tiles standing on it, a six-dot tile at one end and a bamboo tile at the other, under a coral arch with short gold rays. The badge prints at about 1.9 inches across and 2.7 inches high on the 11 oz, and 2.1 by 3 inches on the 15 oz.
The host's desk essentials
- Glossy black ceramic sets off the teal and cream badge, as tidy as a well-run table.
- 11 oz: 3.85 in (9.8 cm) tall, 3.35 in (8.5 cm) across, the right size while you explain the scoring.
- 15 oz: 4.7 in (12 cm) tall with the same 3.35 in (8.5 cm) diameter, for a host who will not sit down until the last hand.
- Dishwasher and microwave safe, so cleanup after the guests leave is quick.
- Lead and BPA-free material: house rule number one.
Who it's for
The friend who hosts the weekly game, keeps the scoring straight and writes the house rules on a card by the door. Bring it as a thank-you to your host or club organizer, or to anyone who sets up the table every week.
Quick answers
What words are on the badge?
HOUSE RULES across the top and MAHJ DESK along the bottom. The badge leaves the actual rules to you, so it suits whatever your table plays.
Which side of the mug shows the badge?
The side opposite the handle, where it is printed one time and centered; the handle side and back are plain glossy black.
Is it a good hostess gift?
Yes. It is made for the person who organizes the game, which makes it an easy thank-you to bring to a host's table.
