Description

A pan warming on the stove, three pots of herbs within reach, and no hurry at all.

This cooking apron carries a row of three potted herbs across the chest, drawn in a bright cartoon style beneath curling swirls. Made from organic cotton, it belongs to the cook who snips a few fresh leaves into nearly every dish.

What grows across the chest

Three terracotta pots stand side by side. The first holds upright sprigs with thin, needle-like leaves. The middle plant is low and full, with broad, veined leaves. The third sends out branching stems dotted with small oval leaves.

Behind the plants, orange-gold swirls curl upward with little dash marks between them. Under the pots, two centered lines of rounded, chunky capitals read “Living the Herb Life”, the first line in lilac and the second, a touch larger, in coral. A row of small flowers finishes the picture, pale yellow ones taking turns with pink daisy-like ones.

It is a flat illustration with soft shapes and bubbly, retro-style letters. Green, terracotta, orange-gold, lilac, coral, yellow and pink all sit on black cloth, which lets each of them show clearly. The whole picture forms one block in the middle of the bib.

Made for a slow afternoon at the stove

  • Organic cotton, 100%, in a 7.08 oz/yd² (240 g/m²) weight: a proper layer of cloth over your clothes while you chop, stir and rinse
  • Adjustable straps: take a moment to set them once, then forget about the apron and cook
  • Waist ties long enough to cross behind you and come back to the front, if you would rather knot them where you can see them
  • The large front pocket is split into two compartments, one for the recipe card and one for the twine you tie bundles with

Who it's for

Home cooks who keep pots by the back door, window-box growers, and people for whom dinner starts with a walk to the plants. It is at home on a soup day, during an afternoon of drying bunches for winter, or when the seedlings need potting on. Consider it for a housewarming where the kitchen is still bare, for a spring birthday, or for Mother's Day.

Quick answers

What size is it, and who does it fit?

There is one size. It measures 35.43″ (90 cm) from the top of the bib to the hem and 29.53″ (75 cm) wide at the waist, and each waist tie is 37.80″ (96 cm) long.

Are the three herbs named on the apron?

No. The plants are drawn without labels, and the only words are the two lines of lettering. Most cooks will recognize their own favorites in the three leaf shapes.

Is anything printed on the back?

No. From behind you see only the neck strap and the ties, so the whole picture faces whoever you are cooking for.

Can I wear it at the potting bench too?

Yes. Nothing about it is kitchen-only: the divided pocket takes plant labels and a pencil as readily as a spoon, and three drawn pots look right among real ones.

Why it suits an herb grower's kitchen

  • Green things, happily drawn — a trio of leafy planters with wisps rising overhead and round, bouncy words in sherbet shades.
  • A sensible work layer — pure organic fibers, bands you can set to your own height and a divided pouch for small tools.
  • Welcome to the new kitchen — hang it on the oven door before they unpack, with a starter plant waiting on the counter.
