The view is at eye level on the promenade, looking along it toward the water. Tall cream and golden-ochre facades line the left side, with dark red shutters, carved window pediments and black wrought-iron balconies, and a domed tower rises further back. At their feet, a sidewalk café fills with diners at white-clothed tables and rattan-look bistro chairs, beside flower urns on square pedestals, beds of white and orange blooms, a cone-shaped topiary and a row of round clipped trees leading the eye to strolling pedestrians.

The walkers wear mid-century clothes: two women in cream and mustard dresses stroll toward you, one carrying a handbag, among men in dark suits and a crowd drifting past white parasols. On the right, a white motorboat waits at a railed jetty on the turquoise lake, a hillside town climbs the far shore, pale snow-streaked mountains rise across the water, and palm fronds lean in from the top corner under a pale sky with a few light clouds.

LUGANO stands tall in navy above SWITZERLAND in rust red, then a small Swiss-cross shield and LAKE LUGANO, all set in the upper-right of the sky. The scene itself is painterly and softly shaded, with modeled light on textured stone and a fine grain, while the lettering stays clean and flat, in warm cream, golden ochre, dark red, navy, turquoise and olive green.
