Sirmione from high above: a castle rising out of turquoise water.
This castle print looks down on Sirmione's moated castle from high beside an old stone tower, an original vintage-style scene with the keep and harbor walls standing in the clear blue-green of Lake Garda. Framed in black wood and ready to hang, it's a Sirmione print for anyone who has stood on Lake Garda's shore, or a gift for someone still planning to.
The design: Moated Fortress, seen from the tower
A crenellated stone tower with swallowtail merlons and a row of small arches under its battlements fills the left edge, its lower wall and a small arched gate stepping down to the water and a little square tower with a flagpole, with a leafy tree tucked in at the lower left. Beyond it the castle stands in the lake, a tall central keep above smaller towers and walls that run out into the water to enclose a harbor basin, with cypresses at its side and the terracotta-roofed old town of Sirmione spreading along the peninsula to the right.
Small boats dot the lake: a launch with a white cabin and a blue hull crosses mid-lake, and a cream-white motorboat trails a wake at the bottom right, while low blue mountains line the far shore under cumulus clouds. The lettering sits against the sky: SIRMIONE in cream capitals above ITALIA between two thin gold rules, with LAGO DI GARDA • ITALIA beneath in navy. It's a detailed, painterly scene, with sun on the stone and glints on the water, and the palette is worked in turquoise, sky blue, cream, sand beige, terracotta and navy.

Who it's for
Lake Garda and northern-Italy travelers, Italophiles and lake-house decorators who want the castle-and-turquoise-water view of Sirmione rather than a generic Italian coast scene will know this one, and so will day-trippers who spent an afternoon in Sirmione. It brightens an entryway, a kitchen nook or a lake-house wall, and it suits a honeymoon or anniversary keepsake, a housewarming, a wedding gift for a couple who married in Italy, or a retirement-trip memento.
Quick answers
Is 14″×14″ the size of the print or the frame?
The print. The frame goes around the print, so the outside of the frame is a little larger than the size you pick, and the same goes for the 16″×16″.
Which size should I choose?
The 14″×14″ fits a stair landing, a bedside or a kitchen corner. The 16″×16″ reads well from across a room, over a sofa or a console, or hung beside another square Lake Garda print.
Does the print name the castle?
The lettering names the town and the lake: SIRMIONE, ITALIA and LAGO DI GARDA • ITALIA. The castle is drawn without a caption, standing in the water at the center of the scene.
Is it a copy of an old travel poster?
No. The view and the lettering were composed new for RaZits in the classic travel-poster layout; it isn't a reproduction of any historic print.
How do I look after it?
Wipe the acrylite front with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth, and skip ammonia-based, solvent or abrasive cleaners. Keep it out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from damp rooms.
