Someone left a book open on a tree stump, and the tent door is open too.
This camping notebook shows a small, still campsite on its covers: a tent, a stump and a book left open as if its reader has only stepped away. Behind the covers are 140 dotted pages, kept for whatever comes to mind once the day slows down.
A campsite with almost nothing in it
A brown ridge tent stands at the lower left, seen from a front corner. One side is dark brown and the front panel a lighter tan, the doorway is open and dark, and short guy lines hold the corners. To its right is a low tree stump, and on the stump lies an open book with pale pages and a brown edge of cover showing.
Soft gray hills rise behind them without any outline, one at the left and a longer band at the right, and a pale disc in the sky sits toward the upper right. Above the scene, two centered lines of dark charcoal serif lettering read “My Tent. My Thoughts.”, each line closed with a full stop.
The shapes are flat and spare, in warm browns, tan and pale grays, and most of the cover is left white. Nothing in the picture is busy, and the white around it stays quiet.
Made to be opened often
- 140 dotted pages: at a page a day, that is more than four months of writing
- Bound in metal wire-o: turn a finished page and the next one is waiting
- The covers have a soft-touch coating, so the book feels smooth when you reach for it
- Covers weigh 352 g/m² (10.38 oz/yd²) and the writing paper 89 g/m² (2.62 oz/yd²), in case you like to know what you are writing on
- Size: 5.5″ × 8.5″ (14 × 21.6 cm), with the wire on the left as you open it
Who it's for
It is for the camper who packs a book before a second sweater, and for the reader who copies out the sentence worth keeping. A few lines after the dishes are done, a list for tomorrow, a page that is only a drawing of the tent: all of it fits. Give it before a first solo trip, at the close of a summer spent outdoors, or to a friend who is always halfway through a novel.
Quick answers
What is inside the notebook?
Dots, and nothing else. No dates, headings or prompts are printed on the paper, so the first page can be a packing list and the second a letter you never send.
Why is the book on the stump open?
That is left to you. No one is drawn at the campsite, so the open book reads as a pause: its owner is somewhere nearby and will be back.
Does the back cover look different from the front?
No. Both carry the tent, the stump and the lettering the same way up. The only change is that the wire sits on the right when the back faces you.
Who is the line on the cover meant for?
For people who like their own company outdoors. Two short sentences claim a place to sleep and a place to think, and they say no more than that.
