The first rhythm section you ever had is the one in your chest.
Every player keeps time with something, and this anatomical heart sticker goes straight to the source: an anatomically drawn heart in the middle of a scatter of notes, treble clefs and stars. Heart Among the Notes is drawn for drummers, singers, songwriters and the listeners who feel a bass line before they hear it, and it makes an easy small gift for a bandmate.
The art: a textbook heart set to music
This is the real shape, not the Valentine one. Rounded chambers in red with lighter coral highlights, thin branching vessels crossing the front, and the cut ends of the large vessels at the top and upper right. Heavy black shading and line work give it the look of a woodcut or a sheet of old tattoo flash, and a thin cream outline runs around the whole heart so it stands clear of the background.
Behind it, small cream speckles and dotted rays burst outward, like the shimmer after a cymbal is struck. Black music symbols are scattered around the edge: three single eighth notes, two treble clefs and a handful of small five-point stars. A three-word phrase in black brush lettering sits at the lower left, its second line running under the tip of the heart.
Everything rests on a flat tan square the shade of kraft paper, which keeps the palette short: red, coral, black and cream. The thick lines and few inks borrow from block prints and gig flyers.
Music people tend to talk about feel before they talk about theory. Here is that idea drawn literally: the muscle that sets your tempo, with the notes gathered around it.
An anatomical heart sticker with full coverage, simple to apply
- A rounded-corner square; the kiss cut leaves a white border framing the tan background
- High-opacity film: put it over an older sticker or a painted area and none of it ghosts into the picture
- Fast to apply, with a bubble-free finish
- The vinyl is the durable kind, meant for things in regular use
- Start by cleaning the surface it is going on
Who it's for
Drummers, bassists, vocalists, songwriters with a notebook of half-finished verses, music teachers, and nursing or anatomy students who play in a band on weekends. In our photos it sits on the closed lid of a laptop; a lyric notebook, a pedalboard case or a planner are other ideas. Give it at a first gig, an album release, a music-school graduation or an anniversary shared with the person who knows all your playlists.
Quick answers
What does each size option actually print?
All of it on 3″×3″, 4″×4″ and 5.5″×5.5″, where the square measures about 3, 4 and 5½ inches. On 15″×3.75″ only part of the sheet is printed: you receive one square sticker of about 3¾ inches (9.5 cm), never a stretched or repeated design.
How true to anatomy is the heart drawing?
It follows the lines of an anatomy chart, redrawn with firm outlines, flat ink and a few lighter highlights in red, coral and black. Most people read it as art first and anatomy second.
Is there wording on it?
Yes, a short three-word phrase in brush-style capitals near the bottom corner. It is part of the artwork and prints on every size.
How much of a laptop lid does it cover?
The photos show each of the three square sizes on a silver laptop lid, so you can judge how much room a square of about 3, 4 or 5½ inches takes before you choose.
