Deià is a village of steps. This is one of them — hemmed in by peach stone houses on one side and a dry-stone wall drowning in bougainvillea on the other, with the bell tower waiting at the top. The design is drawn flat — a low view straight up a wide flight of cobbled stone steps scattered with fallen pink petals, a terrace of tall peach and ochre houses with green louvred shutters, wooden doors, a wall lantern and terracotta pots on the left, and a rough dry-stone wall smothered in magenta bougainvillea on the right. At the top of the climb a hilltop bell tower with a cross stands among cypresses and clustered houses, with the grey Tramuntana ridge and a blue sky with small white clouds behind. Deià sits in the upper centre above MALLORCA, SPAIN between two rules, framed by an overhanging bougainvillea branch top-left and an olive branch top-right, worked in peach, terracotta, magenta, olive green, sky blue and warm sand stone. Which size should I order? The 18″ × 24″ is the safe default for most walls. Take the 12″ × 18″ for a desk, a shelf or as part of a gallery cluster, and the 24″ × 36″ when the poster is meant to be the focal point of the room.

Is this a reprint of an old travel poster? No. It is an original illustration drawn in the mid-century travel-poster tradition — flat colour, clean edges, bold lettering — and a new composition made for RaZits. It is not a scan of a historic print.
What is the bell tower at the top of the steps? It stands in for Deià's parish church of Sant Joan Baptista, which crowns the small hill at the heart of the village on Mallorca's north-west coast; the poet Robert Graves, who lived in Deià for decades, is buried in its churchyard. The mountains behind are the Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage landscape since 2011.
