Some greens sit down in a hollow, and the ground on every side leans in.
It All Feeds to the Middle is framed golf art for people who look at the shape of a green before they look at the pin. It shows one bowl-shaped green in stacked layers, and it suits the golfer who likes to talk about how a hole is laid out.
The picture: looking down into the bowl
You know the kind of green: golfers call it a punchbowl green, set low so the banks around it tilt toward the center. This picture looks down into one from a raised angle. It is drawn in a paper-cut style, flat shapes stacked on each other with soft gray shadows, so each layer seems to lie a little above the one below.
Start at the top. There is a cream sky with a faint paper texture, and across it, in two lines of bold, narrow sage-green capitals, the words “IT ALL FEEDS TO THE MIDDLE”. Under the sky run two wavy bands of sand, a pale one over a darker tan one, each with a scalloped lower edge. Then comes the rough: a muted green layer with a ragged, grass-blade top that takes up the lower half of the picture.
Set into that green is the bowl itself, an oval hollow in teal with a lighter teal rim. Down in it lies the putting surface in a lighter green, and on it stands one red triangular flag on a thin white pin, a little right of center. A few small tan stones rest at each end of the bowl. Cream, sand, sage, moss, teal and that one spot of red are all the colors there are.

Who it's for
Anyone who walks around a green before putting on it, people who read about course design for fun, and the playing partner who explains every slope on the way to the next tee. It would look at home in a golf room, a home office, a den or on the wall behind a home bar. Consider it as a housewarming present for a golfer’s new office, a thank-you to whoever organizes the weekend game, or a send-off from the regular group.
Quick answers
How does it hang?
Upright, with the 16″ (40.6 cm) side running left to right and the 20″ (50.8 cm) side running top to bottom. The picture covers the whole print, right up to the frame.
What does the line on it mean?
It says what a bowl-shaped green does. The ground slopes inward all the way around, so a ball that reaches the green tends to roll toward the center.
How do I look after it?
A light dusting of the acrylic is all it asks for. Give it a wall well clear of steam and damp.
