Description

Pixel capitals with a color-split edge, parked under your drink.

This retro coaster prints two stacked words in white pixel capitals on a black face, with pink and blue lines streaking past them. You get one coaster per order, a small piece of desk gear for players who like their lettering blocky.

Glitch Line Lettering, up close

Two words sit one above the other in tall capitals whose edges climb in small steps. Each letter carries a pink edge on one side and a light-blue edge on the other, both set a little apart from the white, a glitch-style double edge like a picture caught between two frames. The lower word starts a touch further left than the upper one.

Bands of fine horizontal lines run beside the lettering: pink at the upper left and at the right, light blue at the lower left and lower right. Near each of the four corners a short thin diagonal tick points toward the middle.

There is no character and no logo, only type and motion lines. Nothing lights up either; the color split is flat ink beneath a clear shine.

Built to sit under a mug

  • The top is 0.12″ (3 mm) hardboard with a high-gloss coating over the print
  • Water-repellent surface: moisture from a cold glass stays off the desk beneath it
  • Heat-resistant, so a warm mug of coffee is welcome on it
  • A 0.04″ (1 mm) cork layer underneath is non-slip and holds the coaster where you set it down
  • Footprint 3.74″ × 3.74″ (9.5 × 9.5 cm), thickness 0.16″ (4 mm), and corners that are rounded, not sharp
  • Easy to clean, with nothing more than a light wipe

Who it's for

Players with a soft spot for pixel fonts, streamers dressing a desk, and anyone whose shelf already holds a few retro pieces. It can sit next to a mouse pad, on a nightstand or on an end table in the den. As a present it suits a gamer's birthday, a secret santa swap or a housewarming for a friend who is putting together a game room.

Quick answers

Does the lettering glow or light up?

No. The print is ordinary ink sealed under the coating. The offset edges give the type a flickering look, but the coaster has no lights and needs no power.

Does the print reach the edge of the coaster?

Yes. The background fills the whole top face out to the corners. The block of lettering sits in the middle, with open space above and below it.

Is it a gaming design if no game gear is drawn?

In spirit, yes. The stepped pixel capitals and split-color edges give it a video-game look, so it suits a game room without picturing any hardware.

Blocky type and racing streaks for players who decorate a desk one small thing at a time.

Why it earns desk space

  • Type as the whole picture — a pair of chunky words with a doubled, shifted outline, flanked by streaks and nothing more.
  • Looks after the furniture — a sealed, shiny face shrugs off drips and warmth while the underside stays planted.
  • A small extra — drop it into a package beside a new keyboard or a bag of snacks for the player in your life.
