Monarchs on White is a butterfly backpack for students, commuters and anyone who stops mid-sentence when a butterfly lands nearby. Medium in size, it suits a class day or an office day, and it carries no slogan at all.

Monarchs on White: one insect, seen two ways

Only butterflies appear in this pattern. Each is a monarch butterfly drawn as a flat, crisp illustration: solid orange wing cells set between black veins, edged by a black border dotted with white.

There are two poses. In the first, the butterfly is seen from the side, facing right, its wings raised; two thin curved antennae and thin legs are added in fine grey line. In the second, you look down on it. Both wings are open and tilted on a diagonal, and a black body runs down the middle.

The poses take turns in loose, staggered rows, and there is plenty of white ground between them. The pattern shows on the face of the bag and its zippered pocket, down each side panel and across the top. Handle, straps and zipper pulls are plain black.
