Description

Puffy letters, an almond, two squares of chocolate and one raspberry. That covers the packing list.

This snack backpack repeats one block of bubble lettering, with three small things to eat tucked in beside the words. It is a pattern bag for people who like their lettering loud.

Four lines of bubble letters and three snacks

Each block stacks four short lines of capitals that read “Trail Mix & Tan Lines”. The letters are fat, rounded and a little wobbly, with a thick black outline and a black drop shadow, a retro 1970s look. The first two lines are olive green. A mustard-yellow ampersand opens the third, which turns coral red, and the last line swaps between coral and mustard from letter to letter.

The snacks fill the gaps. An almond with dark line markings leans on the left of the second line. Across from it sit two squares of chocolate, molded segments and all, with a single small green leaf behind them. A pink-red raspberry with a leafy top keeps the third line company. Short black dashes fan out around the whole block, like a shine drawn by hand.

The blocks are staggered over a white ground, two across in one row and three in the next, with open space between them. Front, pocket and top are all printed, and on the two side panels the lettering turns sideways. Only the back goes without: that part is black mesh, matched by a black top handle, shoulder straps and zipper pulls.

Room for the laptop and the lunch

  • Water-resistant 100% polyester, 9 oz/yd² (305 g/m²), so a drizzle on the walk home is no crisis for your notes
  • Inside the main compartment, a divided section holds a 15″ laptop apart from everything else
  • One zip pocket on the front takes a phone and lip balm; another hides on the back of the bag for cash and cards
  • Two sliders share the top zipper: park them wherever your hand lands first
  • Padded straps lengthen or shorten at their sliders, soft mesh sits between you and the bag, and a silky lining covers the inside
  • Outside measurements are 16⅛″ × 12¼″ × 3⅞″ (41 × 31 × 10 cm); the weight limit is 44 lb (20 kg)

Who it's for

People who pack the snacks before they check the map: day hikers, road-trip co-pilots, students who like loud lettering and the friend everyone counts on for the good mix. Give it for a graduation, a summer birthday, a send-off before a big trip or the first week of a school year.

Quick answers

Is this a big hiking pack or an everyday size?

Everyday size. Think medium: weekday carry and sports practice, closer to a school or commuter bag than to trail gear.

What does the side against my back look like?

Plain mesh with a zipper running straight across it. That zipper is the hidden pocket, and it stays out of sight while you wear the bag.

Is the underside printed too?

Yes. The base panel carries the same lettering.

How do I clean up after a sticky snack?

Start with the mildest fix: a quick pass with a moist paper towel. Then leave the bag unzipped overnight so it can air out.

For whoever gets asked to bring the snacks every single time, and never minds.

What makes it the fun one

  • Readable from across the parking lot — a stacked slogan in chunky retro capitals, with a nut, some chocolate and a berry drawn alongside.
  • Its own laptop space — your machine gets a separate compartment, and two zippered spots stop keys and a phone from sinking to the bottom.
  • A thank-you for the snack captain — the person who feeds every outing finally gets something back.
